Filipino Food Recipes – Pancit Canton

by lita on November 7, 2010

Pancit is a Chinese dish made with noodles and is one of the most popular dishes in the Phillipines. It has been served at every celebration I have ever been to.

Any kind of meat or sea- food can be used as the base for pancit canton: pork, beef, shrimp, milk fish etc.

This is a basic Filipino recipe for pancit canton.

Tips for Success:

  • make sure you cook the meat well
  • before putting the noodles into the broth, take out half of the solid cooked ingredients. These will go back into the pot at the end of the cooking
  • do not overcook the vegetables – carrots, celery, cabbage
  • make sure the broth is boiling before putting in the noodles
  • toasted garlic can be used as a garnish
  • chopped hard boiled eggs can be used as a garnish
